West Side Road washout area
The first mile of the West Side Road has been impacted over the years by recurring washouts from Tahoma Creek, especially during outburst floods from the South Tahoma Glacier. In recent years the park has reinforced this particularly vulnerable area with embedded logs and boulders to shore up the road boundary running along the creek. This 2 minute video is a snap shot of the status of this area in June, 2023.
